How can I change the operating language in an OEM version of Windows Vista Business from German to English?

As an American living in Geneva, Switzerland I bought a new Thinkpad Z61p computer and being that 2/3rds of the country speak German, the OS is in German. Attempts to use lpsetup.exe has led to nothing. How can I change the operating language in an OEM version of Windows Vista Business from German to English?
buy an English version of Vista, format, and reinstall it.

There are two types of language files--and both are partial but either may

be what you're looking for. MUI available only in Vista Ultimate and

Enterprise are the most extensive--but LIP are available for any edition of

Vista. You may want to look into

these:

If you have Enterprise or Ultimate you can look into MUI. But even if you

don't, you can download the LIP files, and see if they will do the job for

you.

LIP files can be downloaded from here:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=6

%26quot;%26quot;Because not all of the user interface is translated, LIPs require at least

one parent language. The parts of the user interface that are not translated

into the LIP language are displayed in the parent language. When you

download a LIP, you are given the parent language requirements for that

language. The parent language pack needs to be installed before the LIP can

be installed.%26quot;

If you do try either of them, let us know how they work for you.

You will really need to buy an English version of Vista, format, and install

it. Any other resolution is partial.

ok try this for starters: start menu, settings, control panel, %26quot;regional and language options%26quot;, then do the following

1/ in the tab %26quot;languages%26quot; (middle tab) at the bottom there is a drop down %26quot;language used in menus and dialogs%26quot; - select english

2/ in the tab %26quot;advanced%26quot; (right-hand tab) at the top in the section %26quot;language for non-unicode programs%26quot; select %26quot;english%26quot; from the drop down

then re-boot.you do this.
